Hi there!
I currently lead UX on Shopify’s Growth team, currently focusing on SMB/mid-market growth and retail growth. Previously, I led UX for Shopify’s partner program and new segment expansion.
Before that, I was a Senior Manager of Content Strategy and Experience Design Lead of Wayfair’s Loyalty & FinTech pod.
I received my Ph.D. in American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where I spent several years as a researcher, writer, and educator. My bread and butter was distilling complex concepts into plain language and spearheading multidisciplinary research projects.
In my other past lives, I’ve also focused on building a space for community dialogue and connection online, whether as a digital communications strategist, social media manager, editorial board member, or journalist.
What I do
UX management
As a UX leader with a multidisciplinary background, I'm a skilled manager of both product design and content design crafters, and am as comfortable providing feedback on pixels and illustrations as I am on microcopy and error messages.
Content design
I'm a manager-doer at heart with a craft background in growth and product content design. I'm always eager to pick up a shovel to get things done, whether that means leaning in to write interface copy, crafting content guidelines, or conducting interviews with users.
Teaching
I spent the first decade of my career in education, culminating in a role as a university lecturer and researcher. I became an expert in people management, coaching, mentoring interdisciplinary research, critical thinking, and learning new things really, really quickly.
What I think about
My skillset is multimodal. My impact shines when I’m working on teams and projects that offer space for strategic, critical thinking, thoughtful exploration of complex problems, affinity-based collaboration approaches, opportunities to coach, and creative problem-solving.
This isn’t an exhaustive list—not shown here is the amount of time I spend thinking about my dog—but these are some of my priorities and strengths in UX leadership.
